After a post-election boom, stocks pulled back at the end of last week as the pace of further Fed rate cuts came into question following a speech from Chairman Jerome Powell. Fox Business correspondent Gerri Willis speaks to Slatestone Wealth Chief Strategist and Managing Partner Kenny Polcari about if the post-election stock surge was warranted and why investors must now read into the economic data over rate cut forecasts. • The Incoming GOP Senate's Bold New Agenda
The Republicans will open the new year with control of the House, Senate and White House, with the ability to pass a new agenda under leadership from President-Elect Trump. The incoming Congressional leaders have already signaled that they hope to pass tax reform, border security bills and cut government spending. The Senate will have their hands full with the nomination process of the President-Elect's cabinet, which has drawn criticism from some Democratic members of Congress. West Virginia Republican Senator Shelley Moore Capito joins the Rundown to discuss her new role as Chairwoman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, what pieces of legislation she is looking to move forward in Congress, and what she thinks of the President Elect's cabinet selections so far. During the pandemic, excessive alcohol use spiked and has proven to be a hard habit to kick. The Centers for Disease Control links excessive drinking to over 200 different diseases, with liver specialists seeing a spike in the need for transplants. But there may be a solution! Ozempic, the ever-popular diabetes-turned-celebrity weight loss solution, shows promise in reducing alcohol addiction by targeting the brain's hunger centers. FOX News Senior Medical Analyst Dr. Marc Siegel joins to share strategies for reducing alcohol use and the health risks associated with overconsumption. Plus, commentary from author of "What’s Killing America: Inside the Radical Left’s Tragic Destruction of Our Cities," Jason Rantz. (Image via AP) Learn more about your ad choices. • Extra: What DOGE Can Do To Fix DC
This week, Fox News Rundown host spoke with former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels about President-elect Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, a cost-cutting advisory panel led by tech billionaire Elon Musk and former pharmaceutical executive and presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.   Daniel has plenty of experience implementing and studying government budgets, having worked in the Reagan White House, as President George W. Bush's White House budget director, and as president of Purdue University.   He's also been co-chair of the non-profit Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget for the last ten years.   Daniels discussed the waste he witnessed while in government and some costly departments and services that could be cut from the government – without little impact on the American people.   He also discussed the political challenges of making political reforms to popular programs, but why not addressing America’s growing national deficit could have serious economic and security implications.   We often must cut interviews short during the week, but you might like to hear the full interview.   Today on Fox News Rundown Extra, we will share our entire interview with former Indiana Governor Mitchell Daniels and learn more about government waste and how he thinks DOGE can tackle it.  Photo Credit: AP Learn more about your ad choices. • From Washington: A Wake-Up Call For Democrats
After losing the White House, as well as control of the House and the Senate, the Democrats now have to rethink their strategy ahead of the next election season. CEO of 32 Advisors and former Obama Economic adviser Robert Wolf reflects on the 2024 Election and points out the mistakes Democrats made with their economic messaging. He explains why he doesn't believe the Party has a clear leader at the moment, and why they need to adjust their strategy to convince voters they're making their lives better. While on the campaign trail, the President-elect often said America was closer to World War III than ever before -- claiming many of the conflicts raging overseas would never have started if he was in office. Now that he's heading back to the White House, how will U.S. adversaries react? And will a second Trump Administration be able to have a stronger impact on ceasefire efforts between Russia and Ukraine or Israel and Hamas? Retired 4 Star General, Chairman of the Institute for the Study of War, and FOX News Senior Strategic Analyst General Jack Keane explains. • Extra: The Brewing Battles in Washington
The coming second Trump Administration is starting to shape, as the President-elect announced nominees for several key positions.   Some of them are more controversial than others.   Earlier this week, Fox News Rundown host Jared Halpern spoke to Fox News Sunday anchor Shannon Bream to get her reaction to President-elect Trump’s transition so far and what message he may be trying to send Washington with some of the polarizing people he picked to join his team.   Bream discussed Trump’s potential strategy, the incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune will face as he navigates the confirmation process, and the possible political and legal fights ahead for the second Trump Administration,   She also weighed in on Trump’s plan to launch the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, the pressure on some Supreme Court justices to retire, and how Democrats are assessing their election losses last week. We often must cut interviews short during the week, but we thought you might like to hear the full interview.   Today on FOX News Rundown Extra, we will share our entire interview with former FOX News Sunday host Shannon Bream and let you hear more of her take on the battles brewing in D.C...
