  • Mental Health through the Holiday Season
EP:120 This was a heavy topic, but an important one. Losing my husband Jonathan to suicide was devastating, and I know firsthand the confusion, anger and lack of closure that those left behind feel.   Hearing Carter talk about losing multiple friends the same way was heartbreaking. The numbness he described is something I can relate to - it becomes almost expected, which is not normal. The most important thing is that you are not alone. There are people who want to listen and support you, even if reaching out feels impossible. I've been that person for strangers, and I'm always here if anyone needs a non-judgmental ear. Please, don't isolate yourself. Reach out to a trusted friend or call a helpline. Your life matters, and the hole you would leave behind is bigger than you know. Take care of yourselves, especially during the holidays.   Links & Resources: 📘 Check out more episodes of Thrive Like a Parent - https://drbrookeweinstein.com/thrive-podcast/ 📸 Follow Dr. B on Instagram -   https://bit.ly/48VZI5e   🌐 Visit our website for more resources on self-care and well-being - https://drbrookeweinstein.com #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealthAwareness #GriefSupport #HolidayMentalHealth #SuicideLoss #SuicideImpact #ReachOut #YouAreNotAlone

  • Parenting Paradigm Shift: Bridging the Gap Between Discipline and Connection
EP:119 As a former pediatric clinician, I've seen how parenting has shifted over the years. The pendulum has swung from strict to passive - but I've learned the right balance is key. The kids we work with are brilliant, but impulsive and defiant. I've watched parents fall into the trap of letting their kids run the show, thinking they're being "good" by not setting boundaries. But that only makes things worse. Carter and I have developed methods to empower parents and reclaim their role. It's not about being the "bad guy" - it's about equipping our kids with the tools to thrive. The results are amazing - families go from chaos to peace, parents feel liberated, and kids are happier. I know it takes work, but it's so worth it. If you're struggling, ditch the guilt and do what's best. Your kids crave structure, even if they don't know it yet. Let's work together to raise resilient, well-adjusted kids. I'm here to support you. 💪 Links & Resources: 📘 Check out more episodes of Thrive Like a Parent - https://drbrookeweinstein.com/thrive-podcast/ 📸 Follow Dr. B on Instagram -   https://bit.ly/48VZI5e   🌐 Visit our website for more resources on self-care and well-being - https://drbrookeweinstein.com #parenting #familylife #raisingkids #mentalhealthmatters #lifecoaching #ThriveLikeAParentPodcast

  • Is Your Child’s Whinnying Driving You Crazy?
EP:117 Hey there! 👋 In this episode, I’m diving into a topic I know so many of us can relate to: why certain noises—like our kids’ whining—feel SO triggering. I share my personal experience with my colicky, high-needs son, Charlie, and unpack the science behind why those infant and toddler sounds can activate our brains, even as our kids grow. From our codependent bond to our brain’s “fix-it” mode, this episode is all about understanding these triggers and learning how to navigate them with compassion. You’ll learn: ✔️ Why our brains react to certain noises. ✔️ The role of awareness and self-compassion in parenting. ✔️ Practical tools to meet your needs in triggering moments. 💡 Remember: It’s okay to feel triggered—what matters is how we support ourselves through it. I hope these insights resonate with you! 📝 Share your thoughts! What triggers have you experienced, and how do you manage them? Drop a comment or review, and let me know what other topics you'd love to hear about! 💖 Thanks for listening and being part of the Thrive Like a Parent community! • Beyond Labels: Navigating the Complex World of Sensory Needs
EP: 116 As a parent, understanding your child's sensory profile is crucial for providing the right support and creating a harmonious home environment. In this episode of the Thrive Like a Parent Podcast, I'm diving deep into the complexities of sensory behaviors and how they can impact both you and your little ones. Too often, we pigeonhole our kids (and ourselves) into simplistic categories like "seeker" or "avoider." But the reality is, our sensory needs exist on a spectrum, and we can exhibit a mix of different tendencies. By learning to recognize these nuances, we can unlock the key to better managing meltdowns, transitions, picky eating, and more. I'll share real-life examples, break down the different sensory profiles, and explain why it's so important to gain a deeper understanding of our nervous systems. This knowledge isn't just for the kids - it can be a game-changer for parents too, helping us develop the coping skills and self-awareness needed to thrive. So if you're tired of walking on eggshells, ready to ditch the one-size-fits-all approaches, and want to cultivate more harmony in your home, this episode is for you. Get ready to unlock the power of sensory intelligence and reclaim your family's wellbeing.
